Empty Nest

There is a poignancy about an empty nest, intensified by any who have experienced it. Yet unaccompanied, the nest can be seen for the marvel that it is, full of texture, pattern and subtle browns and greys. This beautiful example of homesteading was made, I think, by a mockingbird pair. I liked the notion that they were enjoying the same peace and quiet as I found while painting it.
