Sunrise from Long Lake

Just south of Rocky Mountains National Park and just below tree line is Long Lake. At sunrise in September, the surrounding mountain peaks are magnificently lit with the golden yellow rays of early dawn. Water's edge, yet to emerge from the nights cold darkness is pock marked with moose and deer tracks. Low hanging fog filters through the pines. This painting is a studio work completed from memory and supplemented with my own photographs documenting my trek.
