The subject of the painting is a Great Lakes freighter northbound to perhaps Duluth passing by Port Huron Michigan. This was observed just after a tomato soup color sunrise. The fog was partly caused by the steam from the lake cooling off from summer's heat. This is a traditional watercolor painting painted with Winsor Newton professional watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper. This is a studio painting based on an Plein air observation.
