Oil. Friends had been snowmobiling in the evening near Mount Marcelina in Southwest Colorado when they looked over their shoulder and saw this stunning view. They took two quick photos and it was gone. They messaged the image to me that evening. Two weeks later they called and asked where their painting was. It took almost two years to get to it, but I am happy I did it for them. In the original photo the trees were very thick across the center of the painting, blocking the viewer from entering the scene. I opened them up a bit, creating a way for the eye to enter. I lived near here for 20 years and have seen many similar glowing sunsets in the winter months. I can tell you in spite of what looks like a lot of warmth radiating off that mountain, it does nothing to change how cold the air really is!
