Inspired by Marion Wachtel's exquisite paintings of sycamore groves in California in the 1920's, I headed out to Casper's Park in Orange County, CA, for a plein air session in some of the most beautiful groves of sycamores I have seen. The only sound was of ravens, and the only moving creatures were deer, a coyote, and one grey heron.
