Some days just flow right, and this day in September 2021 was one of those days. It was a gorgeous, calm and sunny day at the Fort Point Lighthouse in Stockton Springs, Maine, the sun was sparkling on the water, and I could hear the seals conversing and frolicking in the Penobscot River over my shoulder. I did a detailed value sketch before I started painting this wonderful old lighthouse, so that I could capture its beautiful light and deep shadows. I used that sketch as a road map throughout my painting, and my plan worked out beautifully!
