Cascade Canyon, Grand Teton National Park

Watercolor on paper. While driving home after spending a few weeks in Rocky Mountain National Park as artist in residence, I decided to make a detour to Grand Teton National Park. With just one day to spend in the park, I followed the advice of a ranger and took the boat across Jenny Lake to hike Cascade Canyon. She suggested I hike past where most people turn around; a few miles in, the canyon transitions into a spectacular valley. This painting shows the view just as that valley opens up.
