Flow

When I work outdoors I tend to jump from one painting right into the next one. Once I get into the flow and my 'art brain' is on I just want to ride the current until the light is gone. This painting began right at the end of a large outdoor still life. In all of my work I'm interested in the rhythmic relationships between shapes. This organic scene felt particularly full of gentle arcs and arabesques. It is ultimately an expression of the light flowing through the scene and rhythmic patterns of the foliage flowing into each other.
